316L stainless steel strip is an ultra-low-carbon austenitic stainless steel, a low-carbon variant of 316 stainless steel. The "L" stands for "low carbon," with a carbon content of no more than 0.03%. This characteristic significantly enhances the material's weldability and resistance to intergranular corrosion, enabling it to maintain excellent stability even in complex processing and harsh environments. It is a high-performance stainless steel widely used in high-end industrial applications. The main components of 316L stainless steel strip are 16-18% chromium (Cr), 10-14% nickel (Ni), and 2-3% molybdenum (Mo). The addition of molybdenum is a key differentiator from 304/304L, significantly enhancing the material's resistance to chloride, pitting, and crevice corrosion. It is particularly suitable for use in highly corrosive environments such as marine environments, high salt spray, strong acid and alkali media, and the chemical industry. 316L also maintains excellent mechanical properties and toughness in both high and low temperature environments, extending its service life over a wide temperature range. 316L stainless steel strip does not require heat treatment after welding, and the weld area retains excellent corrosion resistance, making it particularly suitable for the manufacture of welded structural components.
