321 stainless steel strip is a stable austenitic stainless steel composed primarily of 17-19% chromium (Cr), 9-12% nickel (Ni), and the stabilizing element titanium (Ti). The titanium content is typically required to be at least five times the carbon and nitrogen content (Ti ≥ 5(C+N)). The addition of titanium provides 321 stainless steel strip with excellent stability in high-temperature environments, effectively preventing the precipitation of chromium carbides at grain boundaries, significantly improving resistance to intergranular corrosion. It is particularly suitable for welded structural parts and hot-worked components subjected to high-temperature operating conditions. The most prominent feature of 321 stainless steel strip is its exceptional high-temperature resistance, allowing for long-term stable operation in temperatures ranging from 400°C to 900°C. During high-temperature heating or welding, titanium preferentially combines with carbon to form stable titanium carbide (TiC), preventing chromium depletion at grain boundaries and ensuring excellent corrosion resistance and structural integrity after welding or heat treatment. This characteristic makes it superior to standard 304 and 304L stainless steels in terms of high-temperature oxidation resistance, creep resistance, and thermal fatigue resistance, making it an ideal structural material for high-temperature environments.
